The combination of Carbonyl Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc Sulfate is a comprehensive therapeutic formulation primarily indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of iron-deficiency anemia, particularly during pregnancy, lactation, and periods of nutritional recovery. Carbonyl Iron serves as a highly purified form of elemental iron with a fine particle size, offering a higher bioavailability and a superior safety profile compared to traditional iron salts; because it requires gastric acid to solubilize, it is released more slowly, significantly reducing common gastrointestinal side effects like nausea and gastric irritation. Folic Acid (Vitamin B9) is a critical cofactor in DNA synthesis and the maturation of red blood cells, playing a vital role in preventing megaloblastic anemia and reducing the risk of neural tube defects in developing fetuses.
