**V-Plex
- **What it is:** A **combined B-complex vitamin supplement** containing **B1, B2, B3, B6**; the injection also includes **B5**.
- **Uses:**
- Treats or prevents **B-complex vitamin deficiency**
- Used in conditions like **beriberi, Wernicke’s encephalopathy, poor appetite, cheilosis, glossitis, angular stomatitis, pellagra, peripheral neuritis**
- Helpful when vitamin needs are increased or absorption is reduced, such as in **GI disorders, alcoholism, fever, chronic illness, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, pregnancy, burns, and recovery after surgery**
**How it works**
- Supports **energy production**, **metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats**, and **normal blood formation**.
**Dosage**
- **Tablet/Capsule:** 1–2 tablets/capsules **3 times daily**
- **Syrup:** 2–3 teaspoonfuls daily or as advised
- **Injection:** 2 mL daily IM or slow IV, when oral use is not possible
**Important interaction**
- **Pyridoxine (B6)** may reduce the effect of **levodopa** in Parkinson’s disease.
**Do not use if**
- You are allergic to any component
**Possible side effects**
- Usually well tolerated
- Rarely: **allergic or idiosyncratic reactions**
- Injection may cause **temporary pain**
**Warnings**
- Use cautiously with **levodopa**
- Repeated injections may increase risk of hypersensitivity
- Stop if unusual reactions occur
- Give IM injections slowly if undiluted
**Storage**
- Keep below **25°C**
- Protect from **light and moisture**
- Keep out of reach of children
